Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation options are listed for traveling to and from medical facilities such as doctor's offices, diagnostic testing centers, outpatient clinics and hospitals.

Non-emergency medical transportation is for patients who require special assistance or medical attention while traveling from one location to another.  For emergency transportation arrangements would be made for an ambulance.  

There are several agencies and businesses in Southwest Michigan that offer this type of transportation and they include:

Cass County Council on Aging

Serving Cass County residents over 60 years of age

Cass County Council on Aging volunteers provide transportation to out-of-county medical appointments. Wheelchair accessible van is available as needed. Call for more information. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Van Buren Emergency Medical Services (VBEMS)

Serving areas of Van Buren County   

Van Buren Emergency Medical Services: owned and operated by Bronson Healthcare Group, providing Non Emergency Medical Treatment transport: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in additional to Emergency/Ambulance: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to: Almena, Antwerp, Arlington, Decatur, Hamilton, Lawrence, Paw Paw, Porter and Waverly in Van Buren County.

Pride Care

Pride Care offers Non-Emergency Medical transportation in southwest Michigan.  Pride Care offers contracts to regular users but requires first time users to provide payment up front.  Pride Care offers services based on availability.

Sanders Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Serving Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties

Sanders Non-Emergency Medical Transportation provides wheelchair transportation for routine non-emergency medical appointments within Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties. Please call 24 hours in advance. Hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday with prior notice.

Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance

Service (SMCAS)

Serving the greater Niles and Buchanan area

SMCAS is a non-profit, municipally owned and operated advanced life support ambulance service serving the residents and visitors of the greater Niles and Buchanan area in southwest Michigan.  They also provide non-emergency medical wheelchair service.

Area Wide Transport is a private sector transportation company open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - offering door to door, non-emergency transportation. All  drivers are screened; CPR/First Aid certified with advanced training in servicing clients with special needs.

MEDCOACH

Cross Country/Out of State Transportation

MEDCOACH provides comfortable non-emergency medical transportation service in a hospital bed in a motor home with a private nurse.  MED Coach is equipped with oxygen, suction, pumps, feeding tubes, B-PAP etc. and a private bathroom.  It can be an alternative to an air ambulance medical flight. They are not a Medicare or Medicaid provider.
